Frederick C. “Freddie” Ruark, Sr., 60 of Church Creek, passed away at his home on Monday September 22, 2008. He was born at Hoopersville on September 29, 1947 and was a son of the late Elmer G. Ruark, Sr. and the late Brooksie Creighton Ruark Powley.
He attended schools at Hoopersville and South Dorchester. Freddie had worked at Bumble Bee in Cambridge as a shipping clerk, and after they closed he had worked on the water. He enjoyed working with his classic cars and NASCAR as well as working his crab pots. Freddie enjoyed spending time with his family. He had been in failing health since last September when he passed away at his home on Monday.
Survivors include his life companion of 21 years Donna McAllister of Church Creek, one son Freddie Ruark, Jr. of Cambridge, one daughter Jackie Ruark of Cambridge, two grandchildren Courtney Ruark and Marissa Willey, three sisters Bonnie Newcomb of Hurlock, Etta Powley of Wingate, Nancy Todd of Cambridge, four brothers Elmer G. Ruark, Jr. of Linkwood, Joseph K. Ruark of Hoopersville, Luther P. Ruark of Cambridge and Clarence E. Ruark of Hoopersville, the mother of his children Jacqueline and Fred Ruark, Jr., Sharon K. Ruark of Cambridge, several nieces and nephews and very close friends Norma Lee and Donald L. Richardson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Arvie Joe Ruark.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Joe Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. Pallbearers will be Joe Ruark, Jr. A.J. Ruark, Luther Ruark, Jr., Richard Ruark, Josh Ruark, Reggie Powley, Justin Newcomb and Dwayne Paul. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hoopers United Methodist Church, P.O.
