Rob attended schools in Dorchester County, and he graduated from Cambridge South Dorchester High School class of 1987.  He went on to Delaware Technical Community College where he earned his Associates Degree in Architecture.  Rob was a Professional Land Surveyor, and he was licensed in both Maryland and Delaware.  He loved doing anything outside, especially yard work, gardening, landscaping, and hunting.  He also loved to be on the water, spending time on boats, and fishing.  Rob loved spending time with his family above anything else. On July 10, 2010, Rob married the former Cara Poore.  He was a member of the Maryland Society of Surveyors, The Maryland Saltwater Sports Association, and Grace United Methodist Church.

Rob is survived by his wife Cara of East New Market, his children Samantha and husband DJ Johnson of Easton, Brennon Hughes of Easton, and Emma Hughes of East New Market, one grandson, Declan Johnson of Easton, his mother Sylvia Brohawn of East New Market, his father Robert Hughes and his wife Diane of Sharptown, two special aunts Jayne McQuate and Kaye Donaway both of Seaford, DE, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and uncles, all of whom he loved very dearly.  He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hughes, maternal grandparents Virginia and Paul Vincent, and a brother Jamie Hughes who passed away in 2012.  The family is at peace knowing that the two brothers and best friends are reunited again.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 1 PM at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Christina Blake officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home, PA, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.  A reception will be held immediately following the service on Friday at Grace United Methodist Church.
