William “Willie” L. Jones, 58, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore with his loving partner Tippie Stokes by his side. He was born in Easton on November 23, 1958 to the late William Jones and Helen Cannon Webster.
Willie attended schools in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School. Upon graduation, he worked on the water for many years, of which he was always proud. He also worked for Kenny Lord at C & K Lord for 24 years as a sheet metal worker. He was a former member of Immanuel United Church of Christ.
Willie was a very happy soul who was always smiling. He would do anything for anyone, always willing to help, and was a very dependable person. He loved the water and going out on the boat, and he always said that he wanted to retire and live on the beach. Willie enjoyed music, especially Guns ‘N Roses, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Pink Floyd. He enjoyed watching football, his favorite team being the Baltimore Ravens. Willie also loved NASCAR. Every September, he would go to Dover to watch the Monster Mile NASCAR race. Above all, he was a loving companion, and an awesome grandfather.
Willie is survived by his loving partner of 26 years Mary Tippie Stokes of Linkwood, a sister in law Karen Webster of Salisbury, a nephew David Webster, his wife Amy, and their children Carly, Claire, and Stephen, all of Salisbury, step children Tina Thompson of Hurlock, Michael Gravenor of Pasadena, and MJ Gravenor of Salisbury, step grandchildren Kaja Gravenor and Noah Gravenor of Pasadena and MaKayla Gravenor of Fredricksburg, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Milford Webster and a nephew Michael Webster.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 2 PM at Portside Restaurant in Cambridge, MD. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A.
