Sidney Stokes Keyes, Jr.

August 4, 1937 ~ April 11, 2018 (age 80)

Sidney S. Keyes, Jr., 80, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. He was born in Cambridge on August 4, 1937 and was a son of the late Sidney S. Keyes, Sr. and Marie Robbins Keyes.

Mr. Keyes graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1956. On June 27, 1959, he married the former Alice McCollister. He served in the Army National Guard in the 29th Division. He worked at Cambridge Wire Cloth for 45 years and also did some farming. Mr. Keyes enjoyed fishing, hunting, baseball, bowling, wood working, where he built and remodel all the cabinets in their house, and being with his friends. He was a member of American Legion Post 91, Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW, and the Cambridge Moose Lodge.     

He is survived by his wife Alice Keyes of Cambridge, two sons Jeffrey Keyes of Cambridge and Kevin Keyes of Cambridge, three grandchildren Ashley Keyes, Victoria Keyes and Tyler Keyes, a great granddaughter Di-Vonna Keyes, an aunt Helen Keyes of Cambridge and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Keyes is preceded in death by two sisters Donna Ruark and Phyllis Wanex.  

Pallbearers will Chris Ruark, JJ Murphy, Ricky McCollister, Donnie Keyes, Teddy Keyes, and Franklin Knauer. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Creighton, Eddie Wanex and James Wheedleton.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 1 pm at Immanuel United Church of Christ with Pastor Dale Krotee and George W. Wheatley, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Immanuel United Church of Christ, 5401 Whitehall Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
