Pamela S. Laverty, 72, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the Barnett Center in Centreville. She was born in Crisfield on March 27, 1950 to the late Eugene Sterling and Patsy Sommers Sterling.
Pam attended Wesleyan College for a period of time and worked as a laboratory technician with the State of Maryland for many years. On April 24, 1982, she married James “Jim” W. Laverty, with whom she shared many blessed years. Pam loved children. She enjoyed teaching children’s church and Sunday school at Faith Baptist Fellowship Church until her health began to fail. Pam was a member of the Chesapeake Walk to Emmaus and Faith Baptist Fellowship Church. She also had a card ministry, in which she would send cards to anyone who she felt just needed a pick me up. Above all, Pam loved her son, James.
Pam is survived by her husband Jim Laverty of Cambridge; her son James Laverty and his wife Veronica of Dallas, Texas; her grandpup Merle; her sisters in law Debra L. Ketchie and husband Barry of Groveport, Ohio, and Eileen Laverty Phelps of Wichita, Kansas; her brothers in law Richard A. Laverty and wife Donna of Conway, South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Pam is preceded in death by her brother Timmy Sterling; sister in law Lynda Laverty Allen; brothers in law Clifford “Biff” Laverty, and Tim Laverty; as well as her loving dog Bailey.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 3 PM at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge, Maryland with Rev. Randall Blackmon officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Faith Baptist Fellowship Children’s Ministries, 1312 Race Street, Cambridge, Maryland 21613.
