Ann W. (Willis) Sands

April 20, 1919 — December 30, 2018

Ann W. Sands of Easton, MD passed away peacefully at Bayleigh Chase in Easton, MD on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the age of 99.  She was just four months shy of her 100th Birthday.  Born on April 20, 1919, she was the daughter of John Van Willis and Blanche Bryan Willis.

A graduate of Centreville High School, she then entered the Emergency Hospital School of Nursing in Easton, MD and graduated in 1941.  She continued her nursing career until the end of World War II.

On January 24, 1942 she married the love of her life, Louis F. Sands who was stationed with the 29th Division, U.S. Army in France during World War II.  They made their home in Easton, MD after the war and raised their family.

After her children were grown, she entered the work place again at Rowen’s Stationery and became affectionately known as the “Needlepoint Lady” for many years.  She taught and designed many beautiful creations for her customers and friends.

Ann is survived by her children Gregg Sands, Ellen Kelley Smith (Ernie), Two grandsons, Geoffrey Alan Sands (Fiance’  Kelsey) and Matthew Louis Kelley.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband, grandson, Edward Francis "Teddy" Kelley III and many brothers and sisters that she loved dearly.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11am at Christ Episcopal Church, 111 S. Harrison Street, Easton, MD.  Father Bill Ortt will officiate.  Arrangements are handled by Thomas Funeral Home, P.A.,  Cambridge, MD.   Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Christ Church Easton, 111 S. Harrison Street, Easton, MD.
