Anna Ruth Penn, 97, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025 at Mallard Bay Care Center. She was born on November 8, 1928 in Chester, PA and was a daughter of the late Thomas C. Meredith, Sr. and Florence Bradley Meredith.

Mrs. Penn’s family moved to Cambridge, when she was two years old. She graduated from Cambridge High School Class of 1945 and Cambridge Maryland Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1948.

Mrs. Penn worked as a nurse in Dr. Eldridge Wolfe’s office in Cambridge during the 1950’s and 1960’s.

She worked as a public health nurse at the Anne Arundel County Health Department from 1971 until she retired in 1988.

Mrs. Penn was an active and faithful member of Grace Methodist Church since 1940 serving her church in various capacities until her health began to fail. Mrs. Penn was also active in the United Methodist Women where she served as president for two terms. She had also belonged to the Dorchester Art Center and AARP.

On February 20, 1984, she married Robert Warren Penn who passed away on October 14, 1997. She and her husband enjoyed traveling. They toured the countries of Europe and most of the United States. After her husband’s death, she continued to enjoy bus trips with her friends.

She is survived by her three sons William Stephen Robbins and wife Melissa of Cambridge, Gene Robbins and wife Carol of Greensboro, and David Robbins of Montana, four grandchildren Lisa Robbins, Stephanie Robbins, Andrew Robbins and wife Christen, Cody Robbins and wife Jamie, six great grandchildren Cerah Cabrera, Cole Edsal, Gabriel Robbins, Elijah Robbins, Noah Robbins and Amelia Robbins, two great–great grandchildren, Jax Cabrera and Tatum Cabrera and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Penn is preceded in death by six brothers Thomas V. Meredith, Leroy Meredith, John Meredith, McKenny Meredith, The Rev. Ronald Meredith, Sheldon Meredith and her sister Elizabeth Mills.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 11:30am at Grace Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Pettit and Rev. Dr. Reginald Mills officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
