Ashley “Queenie” Nicole Crooks, 40, born June 4, 1985, passed away on January 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and an unforgettable spirit. Affectionately known as “Queenie,” Ashley was fiercely devoted to her family, friends, and cherished fur babies, Moncey, Hellcat, Littles, and Loulou.
She proudly served in the National Guard from 2009 to 2013, a reflection of her strength, dedication, and heart for service.
Ashley is survived by her loving mother, Kathy Mowbray (Matt Hubbard); her father, Ricky Squirres; her brother, Michael Hastings (Brie); Shannon Franco (Jake); her maternal grandmother, Betty Travers; her aunts, Laura Laird (William) and Donna Barnes; her cousins Jessica Hitch (Shawn), Mickey Laird Jr. (Crystal), and several other cousins; her nieces Erica, whom she lovingly called “babygirl,” Brielle, McKenzie, and Haelynn; her nephews Orion and Kash; her second cousin Eden Hitch, with whom she shared a close bond and affectionately called “Pineapple Chunks”; and two special die-hard fans, Jason and Andy. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Leon “Toady” Travers; her uncle, Leon “Boogie” Travers; her father figure, Jeff Prahl; and her cousins Jason Robinson and JoJo Preston.
A celebration of life for Queenie will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 1pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., 700 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 to help defray funeral cost.
