Beatrice "Beatie Mae" L. (Langrall) McCarter

December 26, 1927 — April 22, 2018

Beatrice L. 'Beatie Mae' McCarter of 103 Hiawatha Road, Cambridge, died peacefully at home on Sunday, April 22, 2018.  She was 90 years old.

Born December 26, 1927 in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Ray 'Ted' Langrall and Louise W. Langrall Robinson.  Beatie was married for thirty years to the late Vernon F. 'Bud' McCarter, Jr. of Cambridge.  Several years after her husband's death in 1982 she met Robert E. 'Bob' Parker, also of Cambridge, and they lived as domestic partners until his passing in 2016.

Beatie was raised and educated in Cambridge, and graduated in the Cambridge High School Class of 1944.  After high school she worked for several years for the Phillips Packing Company and later spent most of her working life as an office clerk at the Wise Oil and Fuel Company, Race Street in Cambridge.

Beatie was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ and a long-time active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 7460.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Ray McCarter of Cambridge, her older brother Ray Langrall of Rehoboth, Delaware, her younger brother Richard 'Dickie' Langrall of Clearwater, Florida and her niece, Cynthia Langrall of Glendale, Arizona.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet Mae McCarter Heckler (Mark), her grandchildren, Jefferson Ryan Bishop Heckler (Jennifer) and Emily Louise Heckler Ruark (Aaron), her great-granddaughter Mazie Louise Heckler, her niece Patricia L. Gardner, all of Cambridge, niece Suzette L. Lackey of Jonesboro, Georgia, several nieces and nephews, and several members of Mr. Parker's immediate family.

A brief visitation from 1:30 to 2 for friends and family followed by a funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 2 pm at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge.  It is requested that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of contributions to Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, Maryland 21802-1733.
