Betty Lowe (Lowe) Collison

February 28, 1922 — March 23, 2018

Betty Lowe Collison, 96, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Sharptown on February 28, 1922 and was a daughter of the late William Edward Lowe and Jerusha Hurley Lowe.

Mrs. Collison graduated from Sharptown High School in 1939. On June 12, 1940, she married Clifford O. Collison, Sr., who passed away on June 3, 1996.  She had worked at Airpax, but most of her life she was an exceptional caregiver for her mother, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the children in her East Cambridge neighborhood. She was an avid and competitive backgammon player who also enjoyed reading, wordfind puzzles and meeting with her Hardee's gang for many years at the Hardee’s Breakfast Club; but her greatest enjoyment was the love of her family. Mrs. Collison was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and a former member of the Cambridge Yacht Club.

She is survived by her children: Clifford O. Collison, Jr. and wife Pam of Woolford, Ann Brittingham and husband Allen of Church Creek, W. Eddie Collison of Cambridge, and Robert S. Collison and wife Cami of Cambridge, a very special friend and care provider Kaye Smith of Cambridge, eight grandchildren: Rhonda Long and husband John, Cammy Brittingham, Penny Brittingham, Chris Collison, Sr. and wife Teri, Chuck Collison and wife Lisa, Andre Murnane, Carlye Collison and Kathryn Collison; ten great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Collison is preceded in death by three brothers Levin Lowe, Fulton Lowe and Roy Lowe, four sisters Naomi Owens, Edna Huston, Marie Hastings and Eleanora Yates.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Collison, Chris Collison, Sr., Chuck Collison, Les Hutton, Dustin Collison, Chris Collison, Jr., Jacob Collison and Eric Collison.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Mr. John Long and Mr. Scott Holotik officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mid-Shore Community Foundation – Dorchester County Fund, 102 East Dover Street, Easton, MD  21601or to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 205 Maryland Avenue, Cambridge, MD 21613.
