Betty Ann (Jones) Smith

July 21, 1929 — August 26, 2018

Betty Ann Smith, 89, of Easton formerly of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at The Pines in Easton. She was born in Cambridge on July 21, 1929 and was a daughter of the late Ernie E. and Blanche Shehee Jones.

She graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1946. On June 11, 1946, she married Dorance Smith who passed away on January 17, 1997. Mrs. Smith worked and retired from Peninsula General Hospital. She enjoyed taking trips with her friends and going to Harrington. Mrs. Smith was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter Debra Moxey of Madison, a son Ernie Smith and wife Ellen of Easton, five grandchildren Stacey Smith, Beth Smith Pain and husband Steve, Shawn Daniel Smith and wife Melissa, Jason Moxey and wife Dania, Clint Moxey and wife Stephanie, 14 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, a sister Faye Willoughby of Secretary and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by a brother Melvin Jones, a sister Jean Vickers and a son in law Richard Moxey.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 11 am at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Friendship United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Doris Weber, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
