Charles Francis Broll, 96, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, at his home in Easton. Charles was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 14, 1929, to Ruth Augusta Lockhart Broll and Harry Raymond Broll. In 1937, Charles moved with his mother and sister, Ruth Coleman, to Easton. His brother Raymond was born a year later.
As a boy, Charles loved to run around town with his friends and play sports. During his high school years, he excelled at track and field and basketball. His class was the last to graduate after the eleventh grade from Easton High at Idlewild Park.
Throughout his life, Charles loved to draw and paint. Many of his paintings are on display at home. He also loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was an accomplished woodworker making numerous pieces of furniture for his home. He loved playing golf after retiring with 43 years of service from the United States Postal Service, he could often be found on the golf course with his golfing buddies in what he called the, “old men’s league”, at the Easton Club and Hog Neck.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Bea; his children, Kim Marks and Tammy Broll (Deb); and his grandchildren, Arielle Marks and Dylan Marks; his brother-in-law Dennis Buckingham (Trish), and a sister-in-law, Roseanna Crebs; and numerous nieces and nephews; and his best four legged companion Tillie. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, brother and his first wife, Peggy MacPherson.
Final arrangements for his last journey are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge, MD. Memorial services will be private.
