Charles S. "Wigs" Brohawn, Sr.

Charles S. “Wigs” Brohawn, Sr., 96, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024 at UMSMC at Dorchester. He was born in Cambridge on July 11, 1928 and was a son of the late Charles Edward Brohawn and Winona Sullivan Jones and his stepfather Ernest Roy “Whitey” Jones, Jr.

Wigs graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Army, Company A, Airborne Class of 1948 and was a Paratrooper. On April 25, 1950 he married the former Joanne Bauer who passed away on August 23, 1998. Wigs later married the former Doris Woodward on October 4, 2003. He worked with the family business, Charles E. Brohawn and Brothers and retired at the age of 62. Wigs enjoyed playing golf, watching his grandchildren play ball, and traveling. He was a past member of the Cambridge Country Club. 

He is survived by his wife Doris Edmunds-Brohawn of Cambridge, a son Charles S. “Wiggy” Brohawn, Jr. and wife Pam of Woolford, a daughter Charlene Burton and husband Greg of Cambridge, three grandsons M. Troy Brohawn and wife Stephanie of Rhodesdale, G. Shane Burton and wife Carly of Woolford, and Justin S. Burton and wife Jessica of Berlin, six great grandchildren Ridge, Reid and Izabella "Izzy" Brohawn, Harlow, Harvey and Nora Burton. Besides his parents and his first wife, Mr. Brohawn is preceded in death by a son Michael Lee Brohawn.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 1pm at Dorchester Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Baywater Animal Rescue, 4930 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to St. Jude's Children Hospital. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
