Cynthia “Cynda” Hubbard, 80, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born on May 5, 1942 in Cambridge and was a daughter of the late Dr. James C. Johnson, Jr. and Sara Smith Johnson.
She graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1960 and also graduated from University of Pennsylvania in 1962. She was a dental hygienist for her father Dr. James Johnson, Jr., and several other dental offices. In September of 1987, she married Michael R. Hubbard. Mrs. Hubbard was an avid Quilter, enjoyed craft painting, playing the guitar and singing. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling throughout the western United States. Cynda also formed the Friendship Four at Friendship United Methodist Church. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities. She served in the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary. She was the first women to be appointed Chair of the hospital Board at Dorchester General Hospital.
She is survived by her husband Michael Hubbard of Cambridge, two sons Dr. Michael Lantz and wife Debbie of Annapolis and Steve Lantz and wife Melissa of Washington, D.C., nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren, two stepdaughters Lisa Hubbard of Cambridge and Shannon Collis and husband Justin of Delmar, two brothers James Johnson III and wife Sandy of Cambridge, Ladd Johnson and wife Joan of Cambridge and a sister Kathy Burtman and husband John of Cambridge and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a nephew James “Josh” C. Johnson IV.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 1 pm at Friendship United Methodist Church with Rev. Shelly McCollister officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
