David P. Bambrick

David Patrick Bambrick was the first born to Vincent C. and Catherine T. Bambrick, March 8, 1947 in Pottsville, PA. The family relocated to Cambridge, Maryland in 1957 when Mr. Bambrick opened Bambrick’s Pharmacy. As a young guy, David would be found riding his bike to deliver prescriptions around town. Later, he cruised around in the Pharmacy Corvair.

David attended Junior High in Cambridge and in September 1961, he went off to St. Francis Preparatory in Spring Grove, PA, where he graduated in 1965. During his time at the “Prep” he made lifelong friends, many whom he still shared stories with in his “Remember When” emails sent out frequently. In 2002, he organized the first ever All Class reunion that included “prepsters” from the first graduating class to the current. A tradition he repeated for several additional years.

After graduation, David attended the University of Maryland and served in the U.S. Air Force. For many years, he owned and managed Channing’s Way Pub (now known as The Salty Dog) in Ocean City. His career spanned several decades in the Hospitality sector, Lakeland Tours, Hyland & Bambrick and eventually his own business Preferred Destinations.

Two sports never grew old for David. Lacrosse and Skiing. He helped with the youth of Dorchester Lacrosse (DLAX) and followed Salisbury Seagulls and the Maryland Terps. In 1993, he began his training to join the National Ski Patrol. His time with the Patrol was spent at Ski Liberty in Carroll Valley, PA. Although his health prevented him from continuing on the slopes, he was recently awarded his “30” year pin and is a proud member of the National Ski Patrol Alumni.

On February 17, 1990, David married Kathi Matthews. After many years on the Western Shore, they eventually returned home to Cambridge.

David is survived by his wife and caregiver, Kathi, stepchildren Angie (Newcomb) Bromwell (David), and Scott Newcomb (Puerto Rico), step grandsons, Brendan Bromwell (Val), Jarrett Bromwell and Brice Bromwell, and a great granddaughter, Kylie Ann Bromwell, his brothers V. Timothy (Donna), Steve, Philip (Julee) and sisters Marianne DeFelice (Paul), Suzy Hill and Joanne Yuvanc (Dogan) and numerous nieces and nephews.

David was a communicant of St. Mary’s Refuge of Sinners Catholic Church.
