Diane G. Harrington

Diane Gore Harrington, 83, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026 at her home with her husband, David, by her side.

Born on February 20, 1943, in Cambridge. Diane often shared stories of her childhood and the many experiences she enjoyed growing up. That sense of curiosity and enthusiasm for life never left her. She approached each day with optimism, finding joy in new experiences and making the most of every moment.

Diane had a passion for numbers and could often be found relaxing with a Sudoku book or carefully balancing her ledgers. An exceptional bookkeeper, she worked in the banking industry for more than forty years. Throughout her career, she formed many lasting friendships and became well known in the community for her kindness, positivity, and willingness to help others. Many of those friendships remained with her throughout her life.

Diane was a wonderful friend who could strike up a conversation with anyone. Her warmth, genuine interest in others, and easy charm made people feel instantly welcome. She also loved bird watching, with cardinals and blue jays among her favorite visitors.

Diane embraced every opportunity to celebrate life and see the world. She loved traveling and planning family vacations. Whether exploring Alaska and the Midwest with her husband or making memories on family trips to Disney and Bermuda, she was always eager to discover somewhere new. When her grandchildren were young, she delighted in introducing them to new sights and experiences. Many weekends were spent visiting Thomas the Train in Strasburg, taking ferry rides, or simply setting off on a fun outing together. Even a trip to the store could become a memorable excursion. Her joyful outlook was contagious, and her grandchildren adored her.

Diane was blessed with a large and loving family who cared deeply for her, and her grandchildren were truly the center of her world. She took immense pride in being their grandmother and great-grandmother.

Diane is survived by her loving husband; David Digges Harrington; her sons, Brian Mitchell Harrington (Jenny); and Brooke Jenkins Harrington; her grandchildren, Jonathan Digges Harrington (Liza), Courtney Lane Harrington, Ashley Brooke Harrington, Brian Chase Harrington, Kendall Grace Harrington, and Jenna Danielle Ausmussen. She was also recently blessed with a great-grandson, Daniel Jonathan Harrington. She was also survived by a favorite cousin Bonnie Gore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar I. Gore and Aloma M. Gore (Walters), a sister Sheryle Lea Gore and raised by Beulah Gore and Bill and Margret Mooseigan.

Diane was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Harrington, Chase Harrington, Ashley Harrington, Bobby Allen, Mike Garland and Craig Howat.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 11am at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev. Shelly McCollister officiating. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
