Ella Mae (Lunsford) Volk

Ella Mae Lunsford Volk, 85, of Mt. Carmel, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at her home in Cambridge, Md. She was born on April 16, 1935 in Mt. Carmel. On May 23, 1953, she married the love of her life, Henry Joseph Volk Sr. (of Brookville, Ind.), at Fort Holabird Army base in Baltimore, Md. She worked for the Franklin County School Corporation for over 30 years, beginning her tenure at the Old Springfield School in Mount Carmel.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years: Henry Joseph Volk Sr.; Father: Pleasant Grandville Lunsford; Mother: Hortensia Kerr Roark; Brother: Ralph Marvin Lunsford; Granddaughter: Abby Patricia Riedman; Great granddaughter: Brianna Kate Gadrow; beloved Son-in-law: Michael Joseph Stanton; Son-in-law: Douglas Little; and Great grandson: Miles Farmer.  She is survived by one Sister: Sylvia Lunsford Smith; one Brother: Alan Lunsford; three Children: Daughters: Mary Volk Little and Anna Volk Stanton; and Son: Henry Joseph Volk Jr. and wife, Dolores Robinson Volk. She is survived by six Grandchildren: Henry Joseph Volk III & wife, Emily Lyons Volk, Andrew Raymond Carl Volk, Luke Henry Stanton and wife, Melynda Elizabeth Lowe Stanton, Leigh Anne Riedman Salinas and husband Tulio Salinas, Molly Lynne Little Gadrow, and Katlyn Marie Little Farmer and husband, Sid Farmer. She is survived by seven Great grandchildren: Gabriela Salinas, Matias Salinas, Allana Gadrow, Camden Gadrow, Caroline Farmer, Jack Farmer, and Adeline Farmer.

Ella Mae had many hobbies. She loved gardening, especially tending to her beautiful flowers. She had the greenest thumb in Franklin County. She also greatly enjoyed making jewelry for friends and family. She was an amazing cook and loved making delicious meals for her family and friends. If anyone was hungry in Mt. Carmel, they were always welcome at her table. Most importantly, she loved and enjoyed her family. In this life, she delighted in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

A celebration of Ella Mae's life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge, MD.
