Eugene L. "Butch" Murphy

Eugene L. "Butch" Murphy, 62 of Bayugan City, Philippines, formerly of Cambridge, passed away in the Philippines on Thursday October 29, 2009. He was born in Cambridge on June 22, 1947, and was a son of Alton P. Murphy and the late Roberta McGlaughlin Murphy.
Butch attended schools in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1965. After graduation he enlisted in the US Air Force and served in Vietnam and took survival training with the Marine Corps and was involved in a number of combat missions. While serving in Vietnam he was exposed to Agent Orange and had ongoing health problems since that time. While serving in the military he had been awarded numerous medals and citations. He enjoyed working with computers. Butch had been in failing health for several years when he passed away on October 29.
Survivors include his wife Jennifer Murphy of the Philippines, three children, Kendra Murphy, Robert Murphy and Shane Murphy, his father Alton P. Murphy of Cambridge, one brother Ronald P. Murphy and his wife Marilyn Murphy of Bradenton, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday November 19, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. Interment took place in the Philippines
