Eugenia "Jean" Elizabeth Dunnock, 88, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Chesapeake Woods Center. She was born on October 11, 1924 in Golden Hill and was a daughter of the late Walter B. Parker and Cleta Keene Parker.
Mrs. Dunnock graduated from Cambridge High School in 1941. She attended Strayer's Business College, and passed the Maryland State Exam for Accountant. On June 1, 1951, she married Reginald W. Dunnock, who passed away on February 17, 2008. Mrs. Dunnock began her business career with the Cambridge Manufacturing Company as a clerk and bookkeeper, and later as administrative assistant to the vice-president.
Her next employer was WBOC Radio and Television as a bookkeeper, then advancing to accounting supervisor. She joined General Television, Inc, in 1965 and worked there until 1978, starting as head bookkeeper, advancing to Comptroller and in 1975, was named General Manager for the Eastern Division. At that time, Mrs. Dunnock's promotion to General Manager made her the United States highest ranking woman in the cable industry. Later on, Mrs. Dunnock worked for Webster, Evans and Tyler, Certified Public Accountants until her retirement. She attended Emmanuel Methodist Church in Mardela Springs.
She is survived by a special niece Mary F. Todd of East New Market, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Dunnock is preceded in death by three brothers, W. Allen Parker, Sr., James E. Parker and Harold B. Parker and a sister Ruth Smith.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Mardela Springs Cemetery with Evangelist Pete Short officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association, 909 Progress Circle, Suite 400, Salisbury, MD 21804.
