Evelyn W. Bloom, 82, of East New Market passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026 at her home. She was born in Cambridge on December 28, 1943 and was a daughter of the late Phillip Anthony Hughes and Mazie Corbman Hughes.
Mrs. Bloom attended schools in Cambridge. On September 29, 1961, she married Howard U. Bloom, Jr. who passed away on September 7, 2013. Evelyn worked at Airpax for many years. She loved to bake like her mother.
She is survived by two sons Howard “Buddy” Bloom III (Pam) and Michael Bloom (Donna), and a daughter Diana Rathell (Don), grandchildren Amanda Windsor, Donald “Lee” Rathell, Jr. (Samantha), Gabrielle Rathell, Howard “Buddy” Bloom IV (Beth), Jason Bloom, Courtney Bloom, Danielle Brittingham (Francis), and Jason Walls, great grandchildren Rachel Windsor, Abigail Calahan, Kaleigh Calahan, Donnie Windsor IV, Daniel Windsor, Ruby Rathell, Dominic, Hudson, Charlie, Emma, Harper, Ellie, Piper, Rebekah, Elizabeth and Lydia, Oakley, Owen, Ryn, Aidyn, Patrick, and Braxton, Anna, Leise and Landon, great-great grandchildren Cayden and Carson Lewis, a sister Elsie Jones, a brother Sammy Hughes (Kitty), a special niece Sylvia Barrack and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Bloom is preceded in death by a grandson Wayne Robbins, granddaughter Kelsie Bloom, great-great granddaughter Remi Lewis, two brothers Guy Hughes and Alfred Hughes, four sisters Minnie Hall, Phyllis Shockley, Beulah Blades and Lottie Willoughby. She is also preceded in death by her pet Sport.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 10am at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev. Shelly McCollister officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., 700 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 to help defray funeral cost.
