G. Steele Phillips, 94, of Hebron formerly of Vienna passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury. He was born in Vienna on January 24, 1929 and was a son of the late Guy R. Phillips and Mildred Storr Phillips.

 

Mr. Phillips graduated from Vienna High School and graduated from University of Maryland College Park with a degree in General Agriculture. On March 24, 1951, he married the former Doris Louise Wheatley whom they were married for 71 years who passed away on May 20, 2023. He was a strong provider for his family and he promoted a good work ethic. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, daughters in law and this was evidenced by many of the activities that he did with them. He was a farmer, did some trapping and charter fishing. Later, he worked as the District Supervisor for Soil Conservation. Mr. Phillips served in many capactives, active in many environment organizations. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tennis. He was a life-long member of Vienna United Methodist Church, Methodist Men, and the Chicone Ruritan, 

 

He is survived by a son Jeffrey S. Phillips and wife Nancy, a daughter in law Cynthia Perks, two granddaughters Allison Phillips and Erin Phillips, a brother Wayne Phillips and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Phillips is preceded in death by a son David Keith Phillips.

 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 11am at the Vienna United Methodist Church with Rev. Barbara Mills-Neighoff officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Vienna United Methodist Church, c/o Mary Lee Bradshaw, P. O. Box 212, Vienna, MD 21869. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
