Gail Cannon Nichols (McClain), 78, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Autumn Lake at Chesapeake Woods. She was born in Crapo on January 4, 1947 and was a daughter of the late Victor F. and Thelma Butt Cannon.
She graduated from South Dorchester High School class of 1965. While in high school, she was very athletic playing basketball, volleyball and softball. After graduating she played racquet ball and was an avid golfer playing at Salisbury ELKS and Nutters Crossing. On January 10, 2010 she married Bob McClain, Jr. She worked as a florist at Sheets Flower Shop for many years, owner of the Flower House in Cambridge and later as a switchboard operator at PRMC. She also helped her husband on the farm. She was past president of the Dorchester Chamber of Commerce.
She is survived by her husband Bob H. McClain, Jr. of Cambridge, a son Michael Pritchett of San Antonio, TX, a grandson Sean Pritchett of San Antonio, TX, a special grandson in law Ricky Fowler and wife Stacie of Seaford, DE, two sisters Anna Mae Wallace of Laurel, DE and Dinah Earley of Fairfax Station, VA, three brothers William “Bill” Cannon and wife Kitty of Cambridge, Rodney Cannon of East New Market, and Jon Cannon of San Francisco, CA, and several nieces and nephew. Besides her parents, Mrs. Nichols is preceded in death by her three sisters Louise Cannon, Harriet Wanex, and Beverly Ruark, two brothers Bryant Cannon and Frederick Cannon.
