George Omro Willey, Jr.

George Omro Willey, Jr., 78, of East New Market passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Cambridge on August 30, 1947 and was a son of the late George Omro Willey, Sr. and Hannah Beckwith Willey Bennett.

Mr. Willey graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1965. On November 4, 1978, he married the former Brenda Nuse. He worked for State of Maryland for 46 years. Mr. Willey enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and watching TV. He also design his home. Mr. Willey was a lifetime member of the NRA.

He is survived by his wife Brenda Willey of East New Market, three sons Omro Willey III and wife Joanna of Hurlock, Daryl Willey and wife Helen of Marydel, and Josh Willey of Galestown, grandchildren Omro Willey IV, Rachael Willey, Emily Willey, James Willey, Jacquelyn Willey, Kate Arnold and Nick Oechsler, a brother Gary Willey and wife Shelley of Cambridge, an aunt Dorothy Nave of Trappe, a niece Lisa Kahl and several cousins. He is also survived by two children from his previous marriage Noel Darling and Marc Willey and their children.

Per Mr. Willey’s request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
