Gladys Rose (Lewis) McWilliams

Gladys Rose McWilliams, 80 of Cambridge, MD went home with the Lord Tuesday, August 7, 2018.  She was born in Cambridge, MD March 28, 1938 to the late William K. and Mary Clark Lewis of Linkwood.

Mrs. McWilliams attended schools in Cambridge, MD.  In her earlier years she worked for the Eastern Shore State Hospital on the switchboard, Rob Roy and Sears & Roebuck of Cambridge.  Gladys, also lovingly known as “Rosie” or “RoRo” by those that loved her, enjoyed spending time with her family and dog and when she couldn’t she loved daily telephone chats.  She was an avid fan and enjoyed watching football, baseball, and ice skating. She also enjoyed collecting dolls and beanie babies. She was well known for generally bringing happiness to those around her.

She is survived by her dog Rosie and numerous nieces and nephews, many that were like grandchildren to her.

She was preceeded in death by her husband Russell McWilliams, sisters Cecilia Mae Gillan and Mildred Lee Robbins and brothers William K., Clark, Eldridge, Elmer, Melvin and Thomas Lewis.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge, MD at 11:30 am with Rev. George Wheatley officiating.  Family will receive friends on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.  Interment will follow the funeral service at Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery.  Family will receive friends and loved ones at the Linkwood Firehall for food and fellowship in a celebration of Gladys life immediately following the burial, and friends are more than welcome to bring a covered dish.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Arnold, Andrew Arnold, Travers Bradley, Larry Bradley, David Lewis and William Lewis.

In lieu of or in addition to flowers, contributions to help defray funeral costs may be made to Thomas’ Funeral Home, P.A.  700 Locust St. Cambridge, MD  21613 in the name of Gladys McWilliams.

Gladys looked forward to and thoroughly enjoyed attending the monthly Lewis cousins luncheon. One of her wishes is that you spend as much time with your family and loved ones as possible.
