Jackie R. Sammons

Jackie R. Sammons, 94, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at his son’s home in Laurel, DE. He was born in Cambridge on July 15, 1931 and was the son of the late Andrew Jackson Sammons and Reba Mae Faulkner Bulawa.

Mr. Sammons attended schools in Dorchester County. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War. On May 16, 1976, he married the love of his life the former Audrey Wilcox who passed away on August 7, 2023. Mr. Sammons worked at Johns Hopkins and later at Airpax with 24 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, model boat building, going out to dinner, and gardening. Mr. Sammons also enjoyed going to Cindy's Kitchen with all the guys at the back table and going to Pleasant Day.

He is survived by a son Steven Sammons (April), a daughter Cindy Sammons Barnes (Dave), stepdaughters Lisa Nield (Tom), Patricia Hallowell (Tommy) and Jennifer Edgar (Guy), grandchildren Adam Sammons, Amber Sammons Salvador, Ben Hill, Shawn Hill, Tyler Hill, Caitlin Hill, Marcia Neild Groton, Lee Neild, TJ Hallowell, Logan Hallowell, and Guy Edgar IV, 14 great grandchildren, a sister Wanda Fitzhugh and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Steven Sammons, Dave Barnes, Tom Neild, Tommy Hallowell, Guy Edgar III, and Logan Hallowell.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 12pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Gary Hickman officiating. Interment will follow at Spedden Seward Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Pleasant Day Veteran for a Day, 2474 Cambridge Beltway, Cambridge, MD 21613.
