James "Jamie" T. Doehlert

James “Jamie” T. Doehlert, 74, of Trappe passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026 only 24 hours after being transferred from his home to Talbot Hospice House in Easton. He was born in Morristown, NJ on December 22, 1951 and was a son of the late Janet Hostetter Doehlert.

Mr. Doehlert graduated from Westtown Friends School in 1969 and from University of Delaware with a Bachelor's Degree in English. He moved to Cambridge, Maryland to work as a waterman for 5 years. After a move to Crisfield, he went to work at Purity Bacon in Salisbury. A desire to return to Dorchester County led to a position of assistant personnel manager at Coldwater Seafood where he eventually became personnel manager for many years. Then he was moved into manufacturing as the line 10 leader and loved the challenge of motivating his team.Upon leaving Coldwater Seafood, he started his own recruiting office for Civil Engineers.

He was an accomplished sailor, and gardener. He and Katie sailed down the Intercoastal Waterway down to the Florida Keys and back up via the cross Florida canals to St, Lucie in a 21 ft. sailboat without a motor. He totally landscaped their yard with trees, flowers and bushes and had an extensive vegetable garden for many years.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn "Katie" Doehlert of Trappe, a son William Doehlert of Fort Ashby, West Virginia, sister-in-law Louann Weidman of Summerville, South Carolina. He will be greatly missed.

Per Mr. Doehlert’s request there will be no services. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
