Joan Marie (Ries) Cantrell

Joan M. Cantrell, 63, of East New Market passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at her home. She was born in Portsmouth, VA on December 24, 1954 and was a daughter of the late Jerome and Marion Hanousek Ries.

She graduated from Glen Burnie High School class of 1973. On May 7, 1977, she married Ernest Cantrell, Jr. Mrs. Cantrell worked for Walmart for 20 years. She enjoyed ceramic and gardening.

She is survived by her husband Ernest Cantrell, Jr. of East New Market, three children Kristopher Cantrell, Heather Ann Bickling and Jonathan Cantrell all of East New Market, six grandchildren Jesse, Haley, Aurora, Alissa, Daniel and Camliya, two brothers and two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802 or to the Greenebaum Cancer Center, 22 S. Greene Street #1, Baltimore, MD 21201. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
