John R. Rue, Sr.

John R. Rue, Sr., 85, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Autumn Lake Chesapeake Woods. He was born in Cambridge on December 2, 1939 and was a son of the late Russell Clarence Rue and Bessie Webster Rue.

Mr. Rue graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1957. On July 22, 1961, he married the former Frances Mills. He was owner/operator of a poultry farm, worked at Hill's Electric for several years and was a Dorchester County School Bus Contractor and also owner of Johnny's Produce. He enjoyed gardening and hunting. Mr. Rue was a member of the Cambridge Wesleyan Church.

He is survived by his wife Frances Rue of Cambridge, two children John R. Rue, Jr. and wife Brenda of Church Creek and Michele Hurley and husband Rob of Cambridge, four grandchildren Megan Rue (William Kaplan), Josh Hurley, Jake Hurley, Justin Hurley, great grandson Kolton Kaplan and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a step sister Susan Meredith.

Pallbearers will be Josh Hurley, Jake Hurley, Justin Hurley, Megan Rue, Jimmy Tennant and Dennis Grafton.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 1pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Jack Diehl officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
