Joseph J. Pavero, Jr.

Joseph John Pavero, Jr., 86, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Autumn Lake at Chesapeake Woods. He was born in Newark, New Jersey on October 6, 1939 to the late Joseph John Pavero, Sr. and Ellen Hansen Pavero.

Mr. Pavero is a graduate from University of Southern Cal and Army Officer Candidate School. He married the former Virginia Dempsey on February 21, 1987. Mr. Pavero served 20 years in the U.S. Army during Vietnam where he was a helicopter pilot and instructor. He retired at the rank of Major. Mr. Pavero received numerous medals including Parachute Badge, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Aviator Badge, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Meritorious Service Medal, Vietnam Civil Action Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation.

Mr. Pavero enjoyed golfing, being in the military and his dogs. He was a member of the American Legion Post #91 and the VFW Post #7460.

Mr. Pavero is survived by his wife Virginia Pavero of Cambridge, two sons Michael Pavero and wife Jeanne of Waldorf and Joseph J. Pavero III and companion Anna 
McCarthy of Texas, two step-children Peter Koob and companion Lynne Rapson of Pennsylvania and Jenifer Robbins of Cambridge, a sister Ruth Pastore and husband Bob of New Jersey, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dog Rylee.

Besides his parents Mr. Pavero is preceded in death by his brother Butch Pavero, and daughter-in-law Patricia Pavero.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at the Eastern Shore Veteran’s Cemetery at 12 PM with Rev. Susan Leight officiating.
