Sunrise: June Claudean (Harvey) Tolley Owens began her earthly journey in Morgantown, West Virginia. She was born to Patrick Harvey and Anna Margaret Felda Harvey. When June was still an infant, her birth father was tragically killed in a coal mining accident. At the age of two, her mother remarried Albert N. Males, who lovingly helped raise her. June was deeply loved and nurtured by her parents Albert N. and Anna Margaret Felda Males.
Sunset: On May 19, 2026, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Maryland, June’s Heavenly Father saw that she was tired and gently called her home.
Journey: June began her early education in Shallmar, Maryland, and graduated from Elk Garden High School, Elk Garden, West VA.
After high school she attended college in Baltimore and earned her dental hygienist certification and practiced for a few years. She then continued her education and earned several certifications in food management and real estate. A well-known entrepreneur on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, she owned several restaurants and real estate offices. June later retired from Coldwater Seafood, where she worked side by side with her husband, John Allen Owens.
June began her spiritual journey as a young girl, raised in a home where faith was unwavering. At an early age, she learned that helping others was a treasure, and she carried that belief with her throughout her life.
June loved life and treasured time spent with her family. She enjoyed traveling the world and sharing her experiences by bringing gifts to family and friends. One of June’s favorite pastimes was shopping for those she loved. She and Allen also shared a love of bluegrass music and traveled across the country to attend concerts. Their shared love of fishing often resulted in a cooler full of fish to give away to others.
Legacy: June leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Cathy Ann Tolley Curran (Derrick), of Ireland; her Goddaughter and caregiver, Kimberly Hughes; her siblings, Albert Males of Florida, Eleanor Grubbs-Paull of West Virginia, Juanita Fridley of South Dakota, and Wayne Males (Karen) of Maryland; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
June was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Allen Owens; and her siblings, Janet Streets and Evelyn Wojcik.
Gratitude: We, the family of June Claudean Tolley Owens, express our sincere appreciation to Commonwealth Assisted Living, Tidal Health, Dr. Jill Porter, and the caregivers of Comfort Keepers and Home Instead for their compassionate care and support.
I Am Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free, I’m following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call, I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day, to laugh, To love, to work or play. Tasks undone must stay that way I’ve found that peace at the close of the day.
If parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah, yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I savored much Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me, God wants me now, He set me free.
