Kathryn Sue Hughes

Kathryn Sue Hughes, 87, of Toddville passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at her daughter’s home. She was born in Cambridge on December 25, 1937 to the late Ottie Milbourne Todd and Oneita Marie Todd.

Sue attended schools in Toddville. On March 29, 1954, she married James “Ikey” Hughes, Jr. who passed away on August 10, 1999. Sue worked at Meredith and Meredith Crab House and later worked for Dorchester County Public Schools in the cafeteria. She enjoyed going to the dirt track races in Delmar, DE, but her greatest enjoyment was being with her family and her great grandchildren. Sue was a member of Zion Methodist Church in Toddville and she sung with the St. Thomas Choir.

She is survived by three daughters Tina Hughes of Toddville, Betsy Simmons and husband Donnie of Toddville and Della Clark and husband Tommy of Wingate, three grandchildren Jamie Richardson (Lauren), Ashley Beville (Brandon), Katlin Oberender (Michael), four great grandchildren Dallas, Daegan, Tori and Maxx, and a cousin Earl Todd and wife Beverly of Crocheron.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Scott Hughes, Donnie Simmons, David Tippett, Brandon Beville, Jamie Richardson, and Michael Oberender.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Dorchester Memorial Park at 2 PM with Rev. Michael LeClair officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Zion Methodist Church in Toddville, 2533 Toddville Road, Toddville, MD 21672, c/o Betsy Simmons.
