Kay F. Townsend, 81, of East New Market passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at her daughter’s home. She was born in Cambridge on August 30, 1944 and was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Cecilia “Nudie” Koski Blades.

Mrs. Townsend graduated from North Dorchester High School class of 1962. On October 16, 1964 she married Donald F. Townsend who passed away on November 22, 2013. Mrs. Townsend had numerous jobs including Western Publishing, Perdue Farms, Vick's Cafe, and Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, doing crafts and going to the casino's.

She is survived by a son Troy Townsend and wife Dawn of East New Market, a daughter Angel Degges and companion Charlie Atkins of East New Market, four grandsons Jacob Townsend (Amber), Joshua Townsend (Cassidy), Hunter Degges and Dylan Degges (Katie), four great grandchildren Sophia, Haley, Rebecca, and Hayes, a nephew Shane Abbott of Cambridge and a great nephew Kenny Abbott, Jr. (Alex) and his son Braxton. She is also survived by her best friend Laurel O'Neil and husband John. Besides her parents, Mrs. Townsend is preceded in death by a sister Eunice Abbott and her husband Jerry and a nephew Kenny Abbott.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Townsend, Josh Townsend, Hunter Degges, Dylan Degges, Greg Webster and Shane Abbott.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 12pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. with Rev. Larry Wroten officiating. Interment will be private. Family will receive friends one hour prior the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
