Kaye E. Smith, 79, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. She was born in Cambridge on March 15, 1945 and was a daughter of the late Ella Ruark Matherly.

Ms. Smith graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1963. She worked at Cambridge Scientific. Ms. Smith enjoyed gardening, antiques, spending time with her children and grandchildren. 

She is survived by her daughter Rhonda Askins of Cambridge, a son Chad Smith (Tina) of Vienna, a sister Melody Pearson of Secretary, a brother Keith Richardson (Tina Ryan) of Mardela Springs, three grandchildren Shea Bentz (Keith) Nichole Askins, and Kristen Wheatley (Justin), six great grandchildren Landen, Noah, Brigham, Keegan, Brenner and Dylan, a great-great granddaughter Ivey Warfield and several nieces and nephews. Beside her parents, Ms. Smith is preceded in death by a granddaughter Shannon Willey and a sister Gail Mills.

Pallbearers will be Eddie James, Landen Warfield, Alex Mohr, Ivan Taylor, Dre Greene, and Moe Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Owens, Leon Elliott, Jr., Russell Ewell and Dr. Noman Thanwy.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 1pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Steve Bloodsworth officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
