Leonard J. Rennenkampf

February 5, 1916 — February 18, 2013

Leonard J. Rennenkampf, 97, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2013 at his residence. He was born on February 5, 1916 in Simferopol, Russia to the late John and Maria Smerchek Rennenkampf.

He graduated high school and received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from City College of New York. He was awarded his professional engineering license by Universtiy of the State of New York and worked as an electrical engineer and manager for Computer Sciences Corporation. Mr. Rennenkampf was a published author. He enjoyed learning about and improving watches and automobiles and studying the ways of the world. After retirement, he chose to live on the Eastern Shore for the sailing opportunities and tranquility that it offered. His friends and family would call him a philosopher. He will be remembered for the insight and wisdom that he shared so generously.

Mr. Rennenkampf is survived by his son Erik Rennenkampf and wife Jill of Columbia, Maryland, two granddaughters Jessica and Katy Rennenkampf also of Columbia, and a son-in-law Frank Kuwik of Delmar, New York. He is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Florence Johnson Rennenkampf and his daughter Lenore Kuwik.

Family and friends will hold a celebration of Leonard's life at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
