Liva R. DeCesare

Liva R. DeCesare, 101, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake. She was born on March 30, 1924 in Pikes Creek, Pennsylvania to the late Olin Roy Gordon and Vera A. Meeker Gordon.

Mrs. DeCesare graduated from Benton High School class of 1940. After high school she attended college for a semester before going to work for the Army Chemical Center in Edgewood, MD where she tested gas masks and clothing for soldiers during WWII. On June 10, 1945 she married Frank DeCesare, who passed away on May 7, 2004. Mrs. DeCesare also worked doing fundraising for schools in Edgewood.

Mrs. DeCesare was very active with her children during their time in school and would show up to any sporting or classroom event. She enjoyed playing cards, baking, restoring antiques, rescuing animals, and anything that had to do with nature.

Mrs. DeCesare was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #17, and a member of Edgewood Methodist church where she used to play the organ.

Mrs. DeCesare is survived by a daughter Deb DeCesare, a daughter in law Jill DeCesare, two grandchildren Kevin DeCesare and Lauren DeCesare and a great-grandson Sawyer DeCesare.

Besides her parents and husband Mrs. Decesare is preceded in death by a son Daryl DeCesare and three brothers, Walter Gordon, Robert Gordon and George Gordon.

The family would like to thank Comfort Keepers, especially Angelle Wilson, for the care they provided to Mrs. Decesare.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026 at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. from 2 PM to 4 PM. Interment will be private. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A.
