M. Howardene Brem, 82, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. She was born in Cambridge on February 22, 1943, and was the daughter of the late Howard F. and Mildred Lankford Hall.
Howardene graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1961. On April 5, 1974, she married George Brem. She began her career in banking with Union Trust, which ultimately became BB&T, and retired after 37 years. Howardene enjoyed gardening, traveling and shopping but most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and hosting Friday night pizza partys for them. She volunteered at Pleasant Day Adult Day Care, where she served on the board, and was a member of the American Legion Post #91 Ladies Auxiliary and a past member of Grace United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband George Brem of Cambridge, her children Chester D. Martinek and wife Melissa of Elliott Island, Howard F. Martinek and wife Rochelle of Elliott Island, and Lynn Darby and wife Juanita of Cambridge, grandchildren Danny, Josh, Kaycie, Jessica, Marissa, Noah, Gage, and Evans, three great grandchildren Destini, Katilaya and Jaxsen, a sister Sylvia Trice and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mrs. Brem was preceded in death by a son, Robert Brem, two brothers, Donald Marshall and Charles Marshall, a sister, Betty Lou Waller, and a special niece, JoAnn Hutton.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 1 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with her nephew, Rev. Steve Trice, and Rev. Tina Blake officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
