Madeline R. Brower

Madeline Robbins Brower, 84 of Cambridge, passed away at the Dorchester General Hospital on Tuesday October 7, 2008. She was born at Robbins on February 10, 1924 and was a daughter of the late Charles R. and Alverta Shorter Robbins.

She attended schools in the Maple Dam area. On December 24, 1942 she and George H. Brower, Jr. were married. Mr. Brower passed away on April 24, 1989. Some years ago she had worked in several of the local shirt factories and later worked at the Cambridge Junior High School. Mrs. Brower was very proud to be a homemaker and still lived in the home she and her husband had built. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cambridge, and enjoyed antiques, cooking and baking and working with flowers as well as doing crafts. Mrs. Brower had been in failing health since May and had been a patient at the Chesapeake Woods Center since July and was taken to Dorchester General Hospital on Monday evening where she passed away early Tuesday morning.

Survivors include one son Dr. Keith H. Brower and his wife Lori Brower of Fruitland, two grandsons Alexander Brower of Fruitland and W. Kendall Mooney, Jr. and his wife Terry of Secretary, one step granddaughter Sheri Wolfe, four great grandchildren, a son in law Phil Todd, Jr. of Cambridge, one sister Mabel Wingate of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter Carolyn Todd, three sisters Ruzzie Bramble, Dora Dixon and Marie Keyes.

A graveside service will be held on Friday morning at 11:00 AM at Dorchester Memorial Park with Pastor Jerry Wade officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, C/O Mrs. Doris Weber, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
