Margaret A. Bennett

Margaret Ann Bennett, 92, of Cambridge formerly of Golden Hill passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Chesapeake Woods in Cambridge. She was born in Blackwater on January 22, 1931 and was a daughter of the late Olin H. and Cecilia Wallace Elzey.

 

She attended schools at Kirwan’s Neck, Lakesville and later Crapo High School. Mrs. Bennett was married to the late Sidney Bennett. She had worked at Airpax and later worked at I.F. Cannon Seafood. Mrs. Bennett was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church at Golden Hill. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking Sunday dinners for her family.

           

She is survived by two sisters Peggy Ruark of Cambridge and Florence Elzey of Cambridge, a brother William O. "Bud" Elzey and wife Dottie of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a sister Lavinia “Jeannie” Insley, five brothers Prettyman Elzey, Wallace Elzey, Albury “Tootsie” Elzey, Harry Elzey, and Allen Elzey.

 

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 1:00 pm at St. John's Churchyard in Golden Hill with Dan Gustafson officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church,  P. O. Box 135, Church Creek, MD 21622. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
