Martha P (Parks) Dean

Martha Parks Dean, 100, of Chester passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at her home.  She was born in Applegarth on September 30, 1917 to the late Logan Parks and Rosa Woodland Parks.

Martha attended schools in Hoopers Island.  She worked for many years as a crab picker for Rippon’s Brothers Seafood Plant.  On December 19, 1936, she married Delmas Lance Dean, Sr., who passed away on September 1, 1977.  Martha enjoyed puzzles and cooking.

She is survived by three grandchildren James Dean and fiancé Sandy Vella of Myrtle Beach, SC, Brian Dean and wife Lisa of Ellicott City, and John Dean and wife Sharon of Hurlock, a daughter in law Rhonda Dean of Chester, step grandchildren Diana Bilbrough of Milford, DE and Lewis Bilbrough of Snow Hill, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, a sister Magdalene Mills, and her special dog Joey.  Besides her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her son Delmas Lance Dean Jr., who passed away on November 22, 2017.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2 PM at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge, MD with Pastor Jack Diehl officiating.  Burial will be held at a later date.  Family will receive friends an hour before the service.
