Peggy L. Ruark, 90, of Linkwood passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Autumn Lake at Chesapeake Woods in Cambridge. She was born in Madison on September 17, 1933 and was a daughter of the late Charles and Helen Wroten Dayton.
Mrs. Ruark graduated from Cambridge High School. On January 21, 1959 she married the late William Rufus Ruark who passed away on September 20, 2011. Mrs. Ruark worked with her husband at Ruark's Bar. She enjoyed cooking, and spending time with her family that she dearly loved.
She is survived by step son Mark Ruark and wife Rhonda of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, a daughter from Peggy's first marriage with Franklin Knauer, Debbie Knauer Hardy of Bucktown, a daughter Ruth Charlene Ruark Davies and husband Jon of Linkwood, and a son Jeff Ruark and wife Michelle of East New Market, MD; eight grandchildren Justin Edwards, Tyler Edwards, Grant Ruark, Garrett Ruark, Jay Ruark, Nicholas Ruark, Nathan Ruark and Christy Baumgardner and several great grandchildren, a brother Bobby Aaron and wife Peggy and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Ruark is preceded in death by a step son William Rufus “Rocky” Ruark, Jr. and a sister Diane Aaron.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 1pm at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Steve Bloodsworth officiating.. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Baywater Animal Rescue, 4930 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
