Robert “Bobby” E. Jones, 84, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at UMSMC at Easton. He was born in Cambridge on November 29, 1939 and was the son of the late Clarence E. “Gene” Jones, Jr. and Margaret Foxwell Jones.
Mr. Jones graduated from Cambridge High School, Class of 1957. On August 5, 1961, he married the former Darlene Marshall of Cambridge. He worked as a salesman for A.S. Brooks & Co. for 39 years, and also for F.A. Davis Company for several years. After retiring, Mr. Jones went to work at Simmons Center Market for several years. He enjoyed coaching Little League, Babe Ruth, and American Legion Baseball. He also coached youth football. He enjoyed dancing, doing puzzles, reading and playing card games with his family and friends. Mr. Jones was a member of the Cambridge Jaycees and Faith Baptist Fellowship and a past member of the Cambridge ELKS.
He is survived by his wife Darlene Jones of Cambridge, two daughters Robin Jones McDuffie of Cambridge and Julie Jones Todd (Ricky) of Cambridge, four grandchildren Kaitlin Hardican (Mike), Hunter James (Hannah), Aubrie James (Adam) and Brooks Robert McDuffie, seven great-grandchildren Ashton Hardican, Chase Hardican, Wesley Hardican, Ryleigh James, , Bennett James , Ellie Weber and Lawson Weber. In addition he is survived by three sisters-in-law, Sylvia Satterfield, Linda Dukes and Dottie Griffith, a special nephew Don Satterfield, two nieces Vicki Parks and Tracie Parks and several cousins. Besides his parents, Mr. Jones is preceded in death by a sister Elizabeth "Betty Ann" Parks, a brother-in-law Benjamin Parks, a nephew David Satterfield, and a son-in -law Tony McDuffie.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 12pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Randall T. Blackmon officiating. Interment will be private at a later date at the Jones Family Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Faith Baptist Fellowship, 1312 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613, Open Bible Church, 1619 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to the Cambridge Little League, P.O.
