Robert H. "Bobby" Richardson

Bobby Richardson of Cambridge, Maryland passed away peacefully at his home.

He was born on March 2, 1936 to William H. Richardson and Edith Hill Richardson in Cambridge, Maryland.

As a young boy Bobby grew up on the Choptank River of which he enjoyed crabbing, hunting and sailing. He was also so proud of the fact that he won the Admiral Richard E. Byrd trophy for sailing at the Cambridge Yacht Club. The trophy was presented by Admiral Byrd himself.

Bobby graduated from Cambridge High School in 1954 where he learned to also play tennis from Dr. James G. Busick. He played for most of his life and made sure his grandkids and great grandkids learned how to play.

After high school Bobby joined the Army and was stationed in Louisiana with several other men from Cambridge. The GI Bill afforded him to attend West Virginia University where he graduated with a bachelor degree. He was the first person in his family to graduate from college.

Bobby taught in North Dorchester schools for a few years then went on to work at Meredith Auto Sales with his father in law.

In the 70’s, his love of decoys and hunting collectibles, drove him to become one of the top decoy dealers in the country.

He also wrote a book in 1973: “Chesapeake Bay Decoys, The Men Who Made and Used Them”.

Hunting and collecting decoys was his passion in life, in which made so many lifelong friends.

Bobby is survived by his wife Nancy Richardson.

He is also survived by his children Becky Wozny (Eddie), Eydie Kinnamon and Michelle Richardson, also his grandchildren: Brian Wozny (Audrey), Dr. Sara Coulbourn (Kevin), Hunter Wozny (Allie) and Chelsea Bair (Rich).

He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and Nancy’s nieces and their families.

He is predeceased by his brother Bill Richardson.

There will be no funeral service and burial will be at a later date.
