Roger Ross Brake, 80, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 at his home. He was born on August 22,1943 in Cambridge and was a son of the late Paul and Eloise Anspach Brake.
Mr. Brake graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1961. On March 26, 1964 he married the former Mollie Lou Hargis. Roger worked on the water for 30 years on a boat he had built named Miss Mollie. After he had a heart attack, he formed R.R. Brake Trucking Company, owner/operator for 36 years. He was an avid Skeet Shooter, traveling the country in competition. Roger loved his family, hunting, fishing, sports and especially crabbing with his nephew Bobby. He was a member of Cambridge Skeet Club, Talbot Rod & Gun Club, Salisbury Gun Club, American Legion Post #91 and a life member Elks Lodge #1272.
Roger greatly appreciated the kindness and help given to him by his favorite son in law Chad, his friend Eddie James, Thurman Cannon, EMT's, and hospice, during his illness. His journey was fulfilled having his wife, his daughter and granddaughters, always by his side made his days a little better.
He is survived by his wife Mollie Lou Brake, daughter Lee Everett and husband Chad, two granddaughters Morgan Streckfus and husband Tim and Casey Everett and fiancé Will Quillin, great grandchildren Allison and Brayden Streckfus, sister Linda Meyers and husband Leroy, brother Ham Brake and wife Gloria, nephew Bobby Brake and wife Olivia, niece Jenny Miller and husband Leland, nephew Rev. Paul Meyers and wife Kendra and niece Debi Bejot and husband Ryan. Besides his parents, Mr. Brake is preceded in death by a son Roger Ross Brake, Jr. and a brother John Brake.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 3pm at the American Legion Post #91 in Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
