Roland D. Burton

Roland D. Burton, 67, of Hurlock passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake. He was born in Cambridge on June 15, 1959 to the late Phillip H. Burton, Sr. and Sadie Saunders Burton.

Roland attended school at North Dorchester High School. He served in the Army National Guard. On July 1, 1993 he married the former Carol Wright. Roland worked for several pool companies installing and replacing pool liners. His greatest joy was being with his grandchildren and watching them play softball and cheer.

Roland is survived by his wife Carol Burton of Hurlock, a son Steven Burton of Hurlock, two daughters; Sharon Abey and husband Leroy of Rhodesdale and Virginia Burton of Hurlock, three grandchildren; Maddison Walters, Lillie Brooke Abey and Jackson Levin Abey, his siblings; Sharon “Sophie” Tull of Hurlock, Wanda Burton of Hurlock, Patsy Era and husband Butch of North Dakota, Jimmy “Sarge” Saunders of East New Market and Phillip “Pedro” Burton, Jr. and wife Cindy of Rhodesdale and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Roland is preceded in death by a sister Joann Burton and James “Peewee” Burton.

Per Roland’s wishes a private service for family will be held. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
