Sara M. "Sister" Beckwith

Sara M. “Sister” Beckwith, 97, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at her home. She was born in Petersburg on April 21, 1928 and was a daughter of the late Alonzo and Inez Todd Marine.

In her earlier years, Mrs. Beckwith was a very good basketball player and her team went to Dorchester County Class D Championship Game at Cole Field House at College Park. She graduated from Hurlock High School class of 1947. On March 11, 1949 she married W. Roger Beckwith who passed away on July 23, 2007. Mrs. Beckwith was a cafeteria manager at Sandy Hill Elementary School for many years. She enjoyed playing tennis and played in many tournament. Mrs. Beckwith was a lover of Old-Fashioned Dairy Queen Cokes, Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens, her family and her Lord and Savior. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters Sherry Daniel and husband Albert of Salisbury and Phyllis Barbour and husband Rex of Annapolis, five grandchildren Christi Hall and husband Denny, Courtney Collins and husband Calvin, Jenna Barbour, Brent Barbour and wife Johanna, and Gabrielle Foor and husband Joshua, 11 great grandchildren, a brother Jimmy Marine and wife Louise of Seaford, DE, sister in law Shirley Marine of Salisbury, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband Mrs. Beckwith is preceded in death by her siblings Alonzo Marine, Jr., Donald Marine, Russell Marine, Martha Bland and George Marine and two nephews Stevie Marine and Rusty Marine.

Pallbearers will be Brent Barbour, Rex Barbour, Al Daniel, Ricky Dukes, Craig Bland and Denny Hall.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 12pm at Zion United Methodist Church with Rev.’s Jim Pugh and Tonya McClain officiating. Interment will follow at Unity Washington Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Zion United Methodist Church General Fund, 612 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613.
