Sylvia Y. Hollerman

Sylvia Y. Hollerman, 90, of East New Market passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury. She was born in Salem on September 30, 1935 to the late Chirstopher C. Betts and Ida Lowe Betts.

Mrs. Hollerman graduated from Vienna High School class of 1953 where she was salutatorian of her class. She graduated from the Diploma Program at PGH. She then graduated college from Salisbury State College with a B.S. Nursing and later from Wilmington College with a masters in Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse for many years working at PGH/PRMC for 18 years, Deer's Head and Holly Center. Mrs. Hollerman retired from Nursing in 2002. She married the late George E. Hollerman, Jr. on July 1, 1953 who passed away on May 19, 2011. She had a love for cats. Mrs. Hollerman was an Alumnus from Salisbury State College.

Mrs. Hollerman is survived by three children; George E. Hollerman III of East New Market, Lisa Hollerman of Sharptown and Scott Hollerman of Greensboro, 18 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by all her siblings.

Pallbearers will be Scott Hollerman, Jr., Sean Hollerman, Stephen Hollerman, Charles Foskey, Nicholas Hollerman and Matthew Wingate.
