Terry Eileen Adams, 68, of East New Market passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Terry was born in Cambridge on May 30, 1958 to the late James Monroe Adams, Sr. and Frances Bradford Adams. She was always proud of the fact she was born on Memorial Day as her dad was a World War II Vet. She was raised in Wingate and went to Crapo Elementary School. Terry and 23 others were the last graduating class of South Dorchester High School in Golden Hill in the year 1976.
Terry picked crabs from a young girl until the fall of 1976 when she went to work at Leggett’s Dept. store where she worked for two years and then went back picking crabs for 25 years at Dorchester Crab Co., Brady P. Todd’s, J.T. Seafood and I.F. Cannon’s. In 2003 Terry took a CNA class at Chesapeake Woods Nursing Home and started working there. In 2005 she found a job during what she loved the best cleaning and taking care of people at Pleasant Day Medical Adult Day Care as their Housekeeper and CNA from which she had retired in 2010 because of health reasons.
She had attended Wingate United Methodist Church and St. Thomas United Methodist Church. She was a past member of Lakes and Straits Vol. Fire Co. where she helped with the fishing tournament and their oyster suppers along with whatever had to be done. She collected stamps, coins, and loved keeping up with the Royal Family of England. She also worked on family tree, both sides of her family and both sides of Kevins.
Terry was never blessed with children of her own but was proud she had three nieces and one nephew, Tammy Robinson and her husband Tommy of Wingate, James Tod Adams and his wife Stephanie of Crapo, Monica McGlaughlin Dupperon and her husband David and their children David, Jr. and Jira of Delaware, and Jennifer McGlaughlin of Cambridge. She felt even more blessed that she had two great nephews and two great nieces, Christopher Robinson, Lauren Birch, Abigail Shields and James Evans Adams whom all called her Yae Yae which was a name Christopher named her when he was a toddler.
She is also survived by her companion Kevin Mills of East New Market, her brother James M. Adams and wife Sandy of Wingate. She is also survived by Kara Mills Jones and her husband Lucas and their three children Liam, Elise and Owen Jones who called her Mom Mom Terry, her best friend Lisa Dawson and her family Brandy, Irving, Kori and I.C. Cumberland and Ariel, Scott and Kaycie Christopher. She also leaves behind her beloved cats, aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
Pallbearers will be Tod Adams, Tommy Robinson, Evan Adams, Lucas Jones, Liam Jones and Owen Jones.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 11 am at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Barbara Mills-Neighoff officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. One of her favorite sayings was, “you can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl”.
Memorial contributions can be made to Baywater Animal Rescue, 4930 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
