Thomas H. Colton, Jr.

Thomas H. Colton, Jr., 79, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Mallard Bay Care Center in Cambridge. He was born in St. Mary’s County on April 30, 1946 and was a son of the late Thomas H. Colton, Sr. and Merle Hayden Colton.

Mr. Colton graduated from Good Counsel High School in Wheaton, MD. He served in the United States Marine Corp during Vietnam. In the late 1970's he moved to the Eastern Shore and a few years later he started Hacienda Kennels in Ruthsburg, MD. He enjoyed history and his love of trees.

He is survived by a daughter Emily Colton of Greensboro, a son Thomas Colton III and wife Katie of Goldsborogh, three grandchildren Bayne Ebling, Bowen Colton, and Peyton Colton, a sister Jeannine Peele of South Carolina, two brothers John Colton Southern Maryland and Kenneth Colton Front Royal, VA. He is also survived by his best friend Daniel Stafford.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 11am at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Steve Bloodsworth officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Bushwood, MD.
