Thomas W. Hastings

Thomas W. Hastings, 72, of Bishopville, MD passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at his home. He was born on July 7, 1953 to the late Dr. J. Walter Hastings, Jr. and Marjorie Wright Hastings of Cambridge, Maryland.

He graduated from Catawba College, North Carolina in 1975. Mr. Hastings worked for Robbins & Adams Company in Cambridge, MD until 1981. He moved to Baltimore to work for Phillips Restaurant Corporations until he retired in 1998 as their Corporate Financial Officer and Comptroller. He continued his private tax practice for more than 40 years. His ventures after retirement included building small homes, project managing and boat Captain.

He leaves behind his loving wife Nettie of 43 years; his brother Joseph Walter Hastings III (Carol), nephew Joseph IV; cousins Phillip Wright (Carol), Connie Spoon, in laws Linthia Mills, Robert Bromwell, Jr. (Dodie) and Charles Amos Bromwell III (Carol). Besides his parents, Mr. Hastings is preceded in death by his grandmother Denala Wright, his father’s sister Ruth Matthews and his mother’s sister and brother Nell Wright and Joe Wright and a cousin John Matthews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 12 PM at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Interment will be private at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Bishopville Ambulance Fund, P.O.
