Timothy "Tim" A. McCarter

Timothy “Tim” A. McCarter, 66, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at UMSMC at Easton. He was born in Baltimore on July 25, 1959 to the late James F. McCarter, M.D. and Kay Smith McCarter.

Tim graduated from Cambridge South Dorchester High School Class of 1977. He then attended Washington College where he graduated in 1981 with a BS degree and later attended Salisbury University prior to attending banking school. Tim married his high school sweetheart, the former Glenda Todd on June 9th, 1984. Tim served in the banking industry with the National Bank of Cambridge and Queenstown Bank, ensuring that he was able to provide for clients of his local community, most of whom he developed a strong personal relationship with. He retired after 44 years of service on July 31, 2025. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, carving decoys, and fishing. However, his biggest joy of all was spending time with his grandchildren. Tim could also be found on his beloved property, known as Indian Bob Hunt club. He was a member of the Hurlock Lions Club for nearly three decades where he served in many capacities and received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award in 2023. Tim was also a member of the Rescue Fire Company for over twenty years, where he served as treasurer. Tim’s dedication, kindness, and service left a lasting impact on the community he loved and served.

Tim is survived by his wife Glenda of Cambridge, three sons Ben and wife Meghan of East New Market, Andrew and wife Celsea of East New Market and Ryan and wife Chelsea of Belmont, NC, along with three grandchildren Blake, Liam and Owen. He is also survived by two brothers James “Jay” McCarter, Jr. and wife Laarni of Cambridge and Brian McCarter and wife Johanna of New Jersey, an aunt Bonnie Bell of Cambridge, a sister in law Amy Bennett and husband Jackie of East New Market, a bonus son Chris Foxwell, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Tim is preceded in death by his closest friends Levi Ruark, Steve Foxwell, Ron Rue and Willis Bell.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, 1 PM at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 5401 Whitehall Road, Cambridge, MD 21613 with Rev. Gary Hickman officiating. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service, starting at 11 AM. Everyone who will be attending is asked to please wear camo in memory of Tim. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Hurlock Lions Club, P.O. Box 456, Hurlock, MD 21643. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
